Subaru Outback Trim Levels

Subaru is known for making exceptionally versatile vehicles. And this versatility truly shines through when examining the different Subaru Outback trim levels. Between performance, safety, and technology, several differences distinguish each model.

In this review, our team at Winner Subaru looks at the many variations that set these vehicles apart. That way, when our customers in the Middletown, Odessa, and Dover areas begin shopping for their next Outback, they'll know what they're looking for.

Subaru Outback 2.5i

In the 2.5i, drivers can find many features common among the entire line of Outback vehicles. The Lineartronic® continuously variable transmission and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, for instance, are included at every level. The performance enhancing X-MODE® is also a standard feature.

The 2.5i (and all 2.5i variations) include a 2.5L BOXER® 4-cylinder engine that can generate 175 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. Its safety features, such as the rearview camera and advanced airbag system, are also shared features.

The interior of this trim includes cloth seating and silver accents. In the front, drivers can enjoy a 6-way manually adjustable seat, and all rear seats recline. The digital cluster includes a series of convenient analog instruments, including an LCD screen. And the 4-speaker system and STARLINK™ 6.2-inch multimedia package adds plenty of entertainment.

STARLINK™ variations can be found in every trim level of the Outback. The basic package includes Bluetooth® hands-free, HD Radio® with iTunes® tagging capability, and MP3 connectivity.

Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium

Safety in the 2.5i Premium is increased thanks to STARLINK™ safety and security connection services. This service includes helpful features like stolen vehicle recovery and roadside assistance.

Front seats are now heated, and the driver's seat is upgraded to a 10-way power adjustment. The steering wheel and gear shifter are also leather wrapped for extra style. And front windows are augmented by auto up/down with pinch protection.

Dual-zone climate control and dual USB ports offer more comfort and convenience than the 2.5i. The 4-speaker audio system is upgraded to 6 speakers, and STARLINK™ multimedia moves up to the plus package. Multimedia plus adds a 7-inch screen, Travel Link®, and hands-free texting.

Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited

For increased safety, Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are added to the 2.5i Limited. Comfort is increased too, as front passengers are now given a 4-way power adjustable seat, while back seat passengers have heated seats.

Cloth surfaces are replaced entirely with leather, and matte woodgrain-patterned accents now adorn every surface.

Technologies like the power rear gate and auto-dimming rearview compass mirror with HomeLink® give the 2.5i Limited extra convenience. Keyless vehicle access and a push-button start further this technology.

Finally, the 6-speaker system found in the Premium has been replaced with the Harman Kardon audio system. This system includes 8 speakers and 440 watts of aural capability.

Subaru Outback 2.5i Touring

There are a few special features that Subaru offers only to its Touring level vehicles, which is what sets this trim apart from the Limited.

In the 2.5i Touring, drivers have access to EyeSight® driver assist technology. EyeSight® includes features like Lane Keep Assist and Pre-Collision Braking. Reverse Automatic Braking and High Beam Assist are also added to increase safety.

The Touring trims includes a heated steering wheel, perfect for those cold mornings. And STARLINK™ navigation is added to the multimedia package to help you avoid getting lost on the way to your destination.

Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited

This trim level includes everything featured in the 2.5i Limited with one major difference: the engine. The 3.6R Limited is equipped with a powerful 3.6L 6-cylinder BOXER® that can generate 256 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque.

Subaru Outback 3.6R Touring

Take the 2.5i Touring and add the 3.6L V6 BOXER®. Plain and simple, that's what distinguishes the 3.6R Touring.
