2019 Subaru Impreza Review

Even with SUVs increasing in popularity, compact cars are holding their own. In fact, many drivers near Middletown, Dover, and Odessa still prefer smaller cars.

Subaru has made a reputation for itself for producing solid compact cars that drivers can rely on, including the 2019 Subaru Impreza. If you're interested in learning more about this solid vehicle, read our detailed Subaru Impreza review to determine if it suits your driving needs!

2019 Subaru Impreza Performance

The Impreza is equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine with 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque on tap. While a 5-speed manual transmission is standard in the lower trims, a Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is available as an option and comes standard in higher trims. The CVT provides better acceleration, especially on city streets.

The Impreza stands out from competitors in its class by making Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) standard in all trims, while the majority of compact cars don't even offer AWD as an option. The strong traction from the AWD allows the vehicle to drive safely in inclement weather, which is important for Delaware drivers. The electric power steering is tight and adept at turning corners on winding roads, and the Sport trim can make even tighter turns thanks to its Active Torque Vectoring.

Interior

The Impreza can seat up to five passengers. Cloth-upholstered seats are standard in all but the top-level Limited trim, which provides leather seats. Both the front and back seats provide plenty of legroom, allowing adults to sit in the back and still feel comfortable on long road trips. Plus, heated front seats are available-a big plus for those frigid winter months.

The sedan version offers an adequate 12.3 cubic feet of cargo space in its trunk. If you need more room for large items or work equipment, the hatchback version offers 20.8 cubic feet behind the back seats and a maximum of 55.3 cubic feet with the back seats turned down.

Safety and Technology Features

The Subaru Impreza delivers an outstanding selection of safety features. This includes seven airbags, a rear-view camera, and Incline Start Assist.

Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology is an excellent optional safety package that protects you from potential collisions. Coming packed with advances safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and Pre-Collision Braking, this intelligent safety suite will ensure that you're always safe and sound on the road.

In the way of infotainment, the Subaru Impreza features an impressive STARLINK™ multimedia system. The standard system includes a 6.5-inch touchscreen and provides you access to tons of audio and connectivity options, including Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay™, Bluetooth® hands-free streaming and calling, AM/FM stereo, a USB port, and an auxiliary jack. Should you opt to, you can also upgrade to a larger 8-inch touchscreen!
