Subaru has officially announced the return of the Subaru Loves Pets initiative, dedicating the whole month of October to supporting the health and wellness of animals across the country. Just like in past years, Subaru will continue its partnership with The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Together they will help approximately 3.3 million dogs that enter shelters find a home.

Subaru's commitment to caring for pets is imperative to the Subaru Love Promise. And this year, the company is expanding its dedication by having the first-ever National Make A Dog's Day on October 22. On that day, Subaru and its retailers will help sponsor a countrywide effort to help even the hardest-to-adopt dogs find loving homes. Subaru will work closely with the ASPCA to champion dogs with special needs, specifically senior dogs, amputees, visually and hearing-impaired dogs, and dogs with physical challenges. Subaru invites dog lovers to do something special for their loving pets on this day.

To support the Subaru Loves Pets initiative and National Make A Dog's Day, the automaker is launching a creative new campaign which will air dog-centric commercials throughout October on all networks and digital platforms. The campaign will include television spots that feature Subaru's beloved spokes dogs, The Barkleys, on their newest adventures. Also, Subaru will  introduce new dogs, though, as a set of advertising spots, titled "The Underdogs." These spots will feature dogs that need the most help getting adopted as well as debunking myths and celebrating their unique charms.

Subaru drivers are invited to do something special to celebrate their dogs on National Make A Dog's Day and share their happy dog in twitter posts using #Make A Dogs Day. Consumers can join the effort to help hard-to-adopt dogs by adopting a shelter dog, volunteering at an animal shelter, or participating in a Subaru retailer collection drive.

During October, select retailers throughout the country will help collect unused pet supplies that are crucial to maintaining the health and wellness of shelter animals. Additionally, Subaru and other retailers will donate 5,500 shelter supply kits and 4,800 new pet parent kits to local animal shelters. Also, more than 100 participating Subaru retailers will work with animal shelters in their communities to host pet adoption events.

With the Subaru Love Promise, the automaker looks to do right by the community by partnering with nonprofit education, health, community, environment, and animal organizations. It helps separate Subaru apart with their deeds and the deeds of their partners. As a company, Subaru believes it is important to do its part in making a positive impact in the world because it's the right thing to do.
